The race began under clear skies after morning thunderstorms, with a divide between drivers opting for a two-stop or three-stop strategy. However, the strategy was thrown into chaos when rookie Callum Ilott spun off track on Lap 32, prompting the only full-course caution and resetting the tire strategies for the entire 26-car field. O'Ward remained in second place behind Rinus VeeKay's SONAX Chevrolet, who later extended his lead to 2.0875 seconds before making his final pit stop on Lap 62. O'Ward followed suit, exiting the pit lane just ahead of VeeKay. Despite a strong effort from reigning champion Alex Palou, O'Ward maintained his lead to take the victory with a margin of 0.98 seconds, marking his third career win
